The Lord Has Given, The Lord Has Taken

December 31, 2018 By Cynthia English Leave a Comment

2018 has been marked by heavy losses and gains –

The loss of my first home
The gain of a dream home

The loss of proximity to people I’ve done life with for more than a decade
The gain of family close enough to see often

The loss of a dear friend
The gain of a son

Ebb and flow
Push and pull
The rhythm of life can feel unrelenting at times

Through my grief, there is joy
Through my struggle, there is peace
Not always
But sometimes
And that is enough

The Lord has given. The Lord has taken.
The Lord has given again and made something new.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
