I dream of a house on a lake
With trees and peace close by
The waves cutting across the lovely deep blue
Of Lake Michigan
I hear leaves rustling in trees overhead
As I lay with the sun’s warmth
Golden on my face
Of this I dream
I want to die on the shores of Lake Michigan
Not any time soon mind you
But I can think of no greater joy
Than loved ones around me
Listening to the waves
And trees rustling overhead
The blue of the sky
And the blue green of the water
And me
Their enthralled observer
Honoring their existence
Until my last breath and beyond
I’ll tell tales of her beauty in the celestial realms
Until they tire of it and send me back
To beautifully haunt
Her golden shores
